Hagia Sophia & Basilica Cistern Combo Tour
Tour Itinerary
Hagia Sophia
Hagia Sophia is one of Istanbul’s most remarkable landmarks, reflecting both Byzantine and Ottoman heritage. Built in 537 AD by Emperor Justinian, it was the world’s largest cathedral for nearly a thousand years. Later converted into a mosque, and now serving as a mosque again, it stands as a symbol of religious and cultural transformation. Its massive dome, golden mosaics, and intricate details make it a must-see monument for travelers worldwide.
Basilica Cistern
The Basilica Cistern is an underground water reservoir built during the reign of Byzantine Emperor Justinian in the 6th century. Supported by 336 marble columns, it creates a mystical atmosphere often compared to a forest of stone. The Medusa heads at the base of two columns remain one of its most fascinating mysteries. Today, it is a unique historical attraction where visitors can experience the engineering genius of ancient Constantinople.
